Vivian Zabel's first children's picture book will be released in July. I Like Pink is a color concept book that introduces children to shades as well as more well-known colors.
The idea for the book came from Vivian's great-granddaughter, cute, three-year-old Haylee Rose. Haylee climbed onto the sofa and said, "Granny, we need to visit." During the very grownup conversation, Haylee stated, "I like pink: dark pink, light pink, and almost white pink." A book was born.
When she submitted the manuscript to 4RV Publishing, Vivian expected the process to take weeks at least, and she knew rejection was a possibility. The head of the editorial department sends submissions unanimously to an acquisition editor, who then evaluates the writing. The surprise came when I Like Pink was accepted almost immediately. One of the company's best illustrators took the project, and Ginger Nielson's images will bring the words to life.
